The host families we have chosen to work with have been personally interviewed by our staff and carefully selected to be part of our immersion programs. They will kindly welcome you in their homes — not only opening their doors to international Spanish language students, but their hearts.

Staying with a host family gives students the opportunity to practice and improve the Spanish language through interaction while learning about the local culture. Students living with our host families become part of them — they literally become the new family members.

Families share time and social activities with the students, making them feel as part of the family. Some have young children and teenagers, which can make the stay even more fun. Nice ambience, cleanliness, good service, and friendship can be found in every one of our Granada families.

What Is It Like Living with a Host Family?

This is a new experience and an important part of the whole Spanish immersion — not only linguistically, but in social interaction. Being willing to live with a host family in Granada is to be open to the inter-cultural exchange.

Private Room

Clean private room equipped with a fan, bed, mosquito net, table, and chair. Your own personal space throughout your stay.

Private Bathroom

Private bathroom included in all host family accommodations — your own space, no sharing with other students.

3 Meals per Day

Three home-made meals daily, seven days a week — including breakfast on the checkout day. All meals prepared by the host family.

Filtered Water

Safe filtered drinking water always available at the homestay. Your health and comfort are a priority for the families.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi available in most host family homes — stay connected while living a fully immersive cultural experience.

Daily Spanish Practice

Every meal, every conversation, every daily situation becomes a Spanish lesson. The fastest way to develop genuine fluency.

What to Expect When Living with a Nicaraguan Family

A host student should know that things are not expected to be exactly like being back home. Nicaragua is a developing country and the host families are offering and giving you the best of them. They are happy people — they smile, they joke, and they are excited to host you in their homes.

Most of the families are Catholic but do not mind hosting someone of a different religion or set of beliefs. Honesty, sincerity, good humor, friendliness, and hard work are the characteristics of our school host families.

Nice and kind, the families are always eager to host students of any age from all over the world. Be nice to them — interact! No matter how many weeks you are staying, we encourage you to practice your Spanish with them. Live! Experience!
