Host Families in Granada
Spanish language through interaction
The host families we have chosen to work with have been personally interviewed by our staff and carefully selected for our programs. They will kindly welcome you in their homes. They have not only their homes door opened to international Spanish language students but their hearts. Our lodging family program offers hospitable staying in a clean private room provided with a fan; shared bathroom with the host family. There are a few house rooms with private bathrooms which will be assigned to our students when available. The families provide home-made meals, and purified water. Wi-Fi is available in most of the host family’s houses. Personal clothes laundry is also included in the staying. Staying with a host family gives the students the opportunity to practice the Spanish language through interaction while learning about the local culture. Students living with our host families become part of them, they literally become the new family members.
What is it living with a host family in Granada? This is a new experience and an important part of the total Spanish immersion not only in the linguistic aspect but in the social interaction. Being willing to live with a host family is to be open to experience the cultural exchange. A host student should know that things are not expected to be like being at home. Nicaragua is a developing country and the host families where you are staying in, are offering and giving you the best of them. They are happy people, they smile, they joke, and they are excited to host you in their homes. Be nice to them! Interact! No matter how many weeks you are staying. We encourage you to practice your Spanish with them! Live! Experience! In the future when the time passes you will remember this experience as something special that will last forever in your life, time will turn it into something magic!
Hospitality and interaction are the keys of the Nicaraguan Spanish School lodging program. Families share time and social activities, making the students feel as part of the family. Some have young children and teenagers, which could make the staying more fun. Most of the families are catholic but do not mind hosting someone of a different religion or set of beliefs. Honesty, sincerity, good sense of humor, friendly and hard-working are part of the characteristics of our host families. Nice and kind, our host families are always eager to host students of any age from all over the world. Before the day of your arrival they get prepared, they attend meetings at the school. The whole family gets excited about having a student as a new family member. Every new student is welcome and well treated in the house.
Since 2006, international Spanish language students have stayed with these host families who have gained experienced in hosting people from many countries. Some of them have made investments to improve the conditions of the rooms and the ambience of the houses to give students more comfort. Most of these host families have installed Wi-Fi. Nice ambience, cleanness, good service and friendship can be found in every of our Granada families. People from Netherlands, Austria, Canada, United States, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Australia, Italy, France, India, Croatia, Russia, Slovenia, Serbia, Japan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Norway, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, Taiwan, South Korea, Zimbabwe, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand have been hosted by these nice families and have returned to their home countries bringing back these nice memories of their staying in Granada.
