Learn Spanish in Granada while fully immersed in the Nicaraguan culture!

Our approach

Teaching Spanish the Way Native Speakers Learn

The methodology used in this Nicaraguan Spanish School consists of teaching Spanish the way native speakers learn — by doing. Our professional teachers model the pronunciation without changing our accent, without exaggerating in sounding weird or artificial. We speak Spanish as we speak in daily situations.

Our lessons are well organized and well-structured following the guidelines of the European Marco ELE. Our teachers plan their daily lessons in accordance with the student’s needs. Emphasis is placed on understanding and speaking the language by learning the functions and the necessary grammar structure and contextual vocabulary through conversation.

"The role of the Spanish teacher is to be a facilitator. Interaction is quite an important fact that leads our students towards fast learning and command of the Spanish language in a relatively short time."

For intermediate and advanced levels, conversational topics are varied and interesting, planned and adapted to the interest of the participants. The lessons are a mixture of listening and conversation with little grammar explanation, adapted to the student’s level.

Key principles

What Makes Our Classes Different

Granada is the perfect place where you can have fun and learn Spanish in Central America — an immersive destination like no other.

Conversational & Interactive

This conversation involves the student in topics of daily life, conducted by the teacher as the facilitator. Reducing Teacher Talking Time (TTT) and increasing Student Talking Time (STT) so you develop oral skills fast.

Adapted to Your Level & Needs

Teachers plan daily lessons in accordance with the student's needs. Grammar topics are organized and taught according to individual interest. A grammar topic is studied each day or every other day depending on the student's learning process and pace.

Maximum 4 Students per Group

Learning a foreign language in a small class size has a successful and effective impact in the learning process — one of the main reasons we place four students as maximum in a group class. Most of the time, classes are taught one-on-one. A great benefit for every student.

European Marco ELE Framework

Our lessons are well organized and well-structured following the guidelines of the European Marco ELE. This internationally recognized framework ensures a coherent, level-appropriate curriculum for every student from A1 to C2.

Real Culture & Context

The lessons, handouts, and workbooks are designed to help students familiarize themselves with the natural use of the language and with the geography, traditions, expressions, and culture of the country and the rest of Central America.

Flexible, All Year Round

You are welcome to study in our professional Spanish school in Granada any time during the year — our doors are open for you. Start dates can be adjusted to your availability and schedule, and programs can begin any day throughout the year.

Inside the classroom

How Our Spanish Lessons Work

Grammar & conversation

Structure Explanation, Pattern Analysis & Practice

A grammar topic is studied each day or every other day, depending on the student’s learning process pace and level. Structure explanation, grammar pattern analysis, and oral and written practice are steps in every regular session. Written and oral homework — which implies real interaction — are daily assigned.

Contextual vocabulary is studied in each session. The goal is to train the brain towards an automatic and spontaneous response in Spanish in real context situations.

Teaching tools

Varied Materials & Real-Life Techniques

Class techniques include the use of varied materials such as graphics, flash cards, storybooks, vocabulary cards, and pronunciation exercises — and most importantly, the real atmosphere and culture that surrounds the students and the class.

The lessons provide students with the opportunity to speak Spanish while reducing the TTT (Teacher Talking Time) and increasing the STT (Student Talking Time), so students can develop their oral skills and practice the language in class.

Outside the classroom

Immersion Beyond the School Walls

Besides practice in class, students have the opportunity to be exposed to more communicative, real contexts outside the classroom — either with the host family or with people in the street and places visited during the afternoon field trips to nearby destinations organized by the school.

The classes include a wealth of information on places of interest in the country, designed in such a way to help students familiarize themselves with the natural use of the language and the geography, traditions, and culture of Nicaragua and the rest of Central America.

Home immersion

Homestay as a Living Classroom

The homestay with a local Nicaraguan family is an extension of the classroom. Living with a host family means practicing Spanish at every meal, in every conversation, in every daily situation. This is the fastest and most effective way to consolidate what is learned in class and develop genuine fluency.

Active participation is a must for the students. Oral and written homework must be seen as an important task to train the brain to an automatic and spontaneous response in Spanish in real context situations.

"Learning a foreign language in a small class size has a successful and effective impact in the learning process — one of the main reasons in our Spanish school we place four students as maximum in a group class. Even though we theoretically say our groups are this big, most of the time the classes are taught one-on-one due to logistic facts and the differences among the students' Spanish level. A great benefit for the students!"
