Playa Gigante is in Tola, Rivas. located in the South Pacific Coast of Nicaragua. A small village with a conbination of Nature, Spanish language, pretty sunsets, and Surf. The nice and peaceful ambience of the village and the advantage of being near other beaches and Surfing spots has made Playa Gigante a very hot destination for travellers who want a new and unique experience out of the city.
Originally Playa Gigante town was a fishing village and at the present there is still a feeling of that old seaside town of fishermen. At the bay, there are fishermen in their fishing boats as well as travellers, surfers, and students learning Spanish.
The harbour shape provides peaceful areas to relax and in some of the areas surfing is very popular.
Why is known as Playa Gigante?
According to an old story, this beach is known as Playa Gigante because a giant passed by the town and stepped on shores of the beach and left his left footprint on the sand which became hard solid rock, and on low tide it can be seen. The landscape of Playa Gigante and surrounding is fantastic, sandy beaches, tropical forests, and small villages where people has a relaxing life by the sea.
