Professional Spanish Language Teachers
Senior Professor of Spanish & English - Since 2002
Raúl is a senior professor of English as a Foreign Language, and Spanish as a Second Language, graduated at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN) in Managua (1987). He served as language professor at various high schools and universities in Nicaragua — UCA, UPOLI, UCEM, UNICA — from 1981 to 1997, and as an English teacher for executives at Banco Central de Nicaragua, PETRONIC, Hotel Camino Real, and Compañía Licorera de Nicaragua through the former Oficinas de Capacitación in Managua.
He worked as Spanish teacher and marketing adviser at the Spanish school in Laguna de Apoyo (1995–2000), and was the founder of the first Spanish schools in San Juan del Sur and Granada for the former Nicaragua Spanish Schools USA-owned company (1997). He was also Professor and Coordinator of the Departamento de Español in the Nicaragua/Costa Rica program for USA Universities — including Saint John University and Saint Benedict College from Minnesota — held across El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica through CEIDEPRO (2000–2011).
Raúl has been a Spanish professor at Costa Rica Study Abroad School (CRSA), Central America Study Abroad (CASA) and Instituto Cervantes-accredited schools in Tamarindo, Jacó, Heredia, and Nosara. He served as Professor of Culture, Language and History of Nicaragua at Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural since 2002, and as Spanish professor for USA Trinity College in Managua and León (2010–2017). He has been DELE teacher certified by Instituto Cervantes since 2024. He also worked as translator and interpreter for Hope Project, International Development Enterprises, and buildOn NGO, and has been Regional Coordinator for Central America Immersion Trips since 2020.
A nice, energetic, bilingual teacher with a great sense of responsibility and humor, Raúl loves travelling and meeting people from different countries and cultures. He has taught people of all ages and levels — from beginner to advanced — from many countries. His interests include history, literature, poetry, art, languages, music, dancing, painting, drawing, and photography. Well organized, punctual and disciplined, his classes are very dynamic and amusing.
Open-minded and mature, Raúl tries to make everybody feel comfortable in the programs he leads. He speaks English, some French, some German, and Portuguese. His favourite pastimes are reading poetry, novels, literature, and travelling. He has published poems in cultural local newspapers — some translated into English by British poet John Lyon in the 1980s and published in England. He has participated in numerous Poetry Festivals since 2021: the Central American Festival in Estelí, Mayo Ya in Bluefields, and the Festival of Poetry in Nueva Guinea.
Communicative Spanish & English Professor - Since 2007
Professor Rodríguez is a Communicative English and Spanish professor, graduated at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua (UNAN) in 2003. He served as language professor at Universidad Centro Americana (UCA) from 1987–1992, and at Universidad del Valle (2004–2007) in Managua. He acquired spoken and written English while living and attending school in Pullman, Washington (1968–1970) and New Orleans, Louisiana (1979–1980).
He worked as language teacher and TOEFL Internet Based Test Administrator at the North American Nicaraguan Cultural Center (Binational Center) in Managua (1998–2014), and served as an English Language Methodology Instructor at Nicatesol, Ticatesol, and Centro Cultural Salvadoreño International Conferences. He taught English at Algonquin College Jazan in Saudi Arabia (2014–2016) and at Mondragon College in Mohail, Saudi Arabia (2016–2018), under a 4-year project sponsored by the Canadian English Institute Algonquin College based in Ottawa. He earned the Cambridge English Level 5 Certificate (CELTA) in Bogotá, Colombia in 2018. He has been a Spanish teacher at Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural in Granada since 2007.
Fernando is a widely experienced language teacher who has had ample contact with international visitors and students from many parts of the world. His experience has enabled him to have insight into students’ language needs and to help students effortlessly grasp the intricacies of the language. Fernando likes to be updated with technology and to do research through the internet.
Spanish Language Teacher - Since 2008
Yorleny studied to be an English teacher at a technical school in Masaya, and then attended the National University (UNAN) in Managua where she earned a degree in Education as a Spanish teacher. She started many years ago as a Spanish instructor in the Laguna de Apoyo Spanish school, then worked as a Spanish teacher in different schools and programs in Granada, and also as an English and Spanish pre-school and kinder teacher at the Carazo Christian Academy.
Since 2008, Yorleny has been teaching at Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural — one of the pioneer schools in immersion programs in Nicaragua. She was assigned as teacher in the intensive Spanish courses for the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Granada (2015–2017), for volunteers from Taiwan (2016–2019), and for the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Granada (2019, 2022). She has also taught Spanish online and in private lessons in the Managua program since 2022.
Yorleny is a nice, sociable person who likes travelling, dancing, listening to music, and cooking. She loves the countryside, gardening, and outdoor activities. Yorleny is extroverted, generous, amusing, and responsible. She has travelled to many tourist destinations in Nicaragua including Isla de Ometepe, San Juan del Sur, Masaya Volcano, Mombacho Volcano, Estelí, San Juan de Oriente, and Catarina.
Spanish Language Teacher - Since 2009
Lesbia is a Spanish teacher in the Spanish school in Granada. She studied in Jinotepe to be a teacher, and additionally studied at UHISPAM University to become a Tourist and Hotel Manager. She worked as a teacher in elementary schools for the Ministry of Education in Masaya before joining Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural in 2009.
Mrs. Delgado was assigned as teacher in the intensive Spanish courses for the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Granada and Managua (2015–2017) and for volunteers from Taiwan (2016–2017). She has also been assigned to teach Spanish lessons in Managua and Masaya in language programs offered by the school.
Lesbia is a nice and friendly teacher who likes reading, listening to music, and cooking traditional Nicaraguan food. She enjoys making handicrafts and spending time with her family. Lesbia finds great satisfaction in teaching Spanish as a second language.
Spanish · French · English Teacher - Since 2014
Yenley attended the National University (UNAN) in Managua as a translator and interpreter in French–Spanish–French. She also studied to be an English teacher at a technical school in Masaya, and attended the Keiser University Latin American Campus in San Marcos in the English program for international communication. She started teaching Spanish at Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural in 2014.
Ms. Mercado was assigned as teacher in the intensive Spanish courses for the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Granada (2015–2017), for volunteers from Taiwan (2017), and for the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Granada (2022). She is also a certified tourist guide (INATEC) for rural and urban excursions, and has worked as a tourist guide for French-speaking visitors with Carely Tours and other operators. She has taught Spanish online and in the private in-home program in Managua since 2022.
Yenley is a reserved and nice person who likes travelling, learning new things, listening to music, meeting people from other countries, teaching, learning languages, and studying history and geography. She enjoys reading science fiction stories and films about the lives of successful people. Ms. Mercado is quiet, respectful, responsible, very organized, and punctual. She is a self-described night owl who prefers reading at night.
Spanish Teacher · Interpreter - Since 2014
Perla studied in Managua to be an English teacher and speaks French. She started teaching Spanish at Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural in 2014, completing the school’s regular training courses for Spanish teachers. She has also worked as an interpreter and translator in Granada, and has taught private English lessons to local students. Perla has been working with the school since 2014 in both online Spanish lessons and full immersion programs.
Perla is a very kind and well-mannered person who likes travelling, singing, dancing, and listening to music. She enjoys cultural events, and reads books about psychology, theology, philosophy, and literature. Perla is responsible, disciplined, and a team player — she loves teaching, writing, and learning. As a member of a local chorus, she is able to sing in English, French, Italian, Latin, and Hebrew.
Administrative Assistant - Since 2009
Darling studied accounting and business administration at a technical educational center in Masaya. She worked at the Centro Cultural Antiguo Mercado de Masaya in the organisation of cultural events such as the folkloric carnival, the folkloric festival, and the poetic carnival at the Granada International Poetry Festival. She also participated in the UNESCO convention of cultural traditions of the Pacific of Nicaragua, and worked as Administrative Assistant for the Casa de Cultura «Alejandro Vega Matus» in Masaya before joining Instituto Lingüístico Inter-Cultural in 2009.
Darling is a nice, friendly, hard-working, and cooperative person. She is married with a daughter. Her interests include reading, physical exercise, walking, listening to music, watching films, and going to church. She enjoys discovering new places and gaining new professional experiences.
Airport Pickup Driver · Granada
Pedro is a nice, friendly, hard-working, and cooperative person who lives in Granada and loves his job — he enjoys travelling and driving. He has traveled to Costa Rica as a tourist driver, working for a small Granada transport enterprise, and occasionally provides transportation for the school. Pedro is punctual, reserved, and a skilled driver.
Mr. Lacayo is a Catholic and likes attending the morning mass on Sundays. He enjoys dancing and listening to music, and has provided reliable transportation for the school for many years.
