The Masaya Volcano National Park is located a few kilometers from Masaya city and half an hour distance from our host city Granada. The Park has a very special flora inhabited by varied wild animals. There are long caves that are home to lots of bats; in the volcano crater walls lot of small pretty colored parrots have their nests. This volcano is active and the lava in the crater can be seen from the walls at the rim especially in dark nights. In 2016 the National Geographic channel made a documentary about this beautiful volcano.
In March 2020, a man daredevil and high-wire artist Nik Wallenda from the United States crossed the Masaya Volcano. He made global headlines by walking a 1,800-foot (550-meter) long steel cable directly across the active crater, famously known as «The Mouth of Hell»
